Christians Under Attack

Prayer Warriors!!!

Satan works hardest just before and just after victory. We have had many victories these past few weeks! Praise the Lord. There have been a few skirmishes with Satan but no major battles.

But now we are in the midst of a major battle as one of our leaders and bold witnesses is under attack by her family to give up serving the Lord!!!! It really is an attack as they are all gathered tonight to confront her. Mrs. S.is the only Christian in her family. Pray for her protection, for the Holy Spirit to work in the family members hearts so that they can see Jesus in her. Pray for her to have peace, to remember His promises that she has in her heart and for her to know Christ is right beside her and she is not standing alone.

As we look at the experiences of the Christians in Togane this week, we see that Satan is definitely on the offensive. One example, Mr. Sato was baptized Sunday. Monday his wife had an accident and totaled their car. Their insurance had expired. Thankfully no one was injured. She shared of God’s protection during worship. Please pray for the Christians to keep their eyes on Jesus and keep on claiming His promises. Pray that the Holy Spirit will comfort and guide each one. Ask the Lord to provide their needs in every area of their lives. They are many.

We ask that you as prayer warriors go on the offensive claiming God’s promises for all these new Christians. In II Tim. 3:11 Paul talks of the persecions and sufferings he endured for Christ, and he tells us “the Lord rescued me from all of them”. Pray the Lord will rescue these Christians, protect their faith and use them to bring glory to Christ through His church.

K and Mr. Y

Dear Praying Friends:

Four weeks ago this past Thursday, Mrs. Y trusted Christ. That same day she shared her decision with her husband who accepted Christ. Since then she has been praying with her husband and her children. On Thursday evening of this week, in the ofuro (Japanese bath) she explained to K, her seven year old son, what it meant to be a Christian. K indicated he wanted to accept Christ. On Friday, Mrs. S and Mrs. M talked to him again with his mother and he was very firm in his decision, saying he accepted Christ and wanted to be baptized. Afterwards as they prayed together, he prayed that his dad would be able to be off work on Sunday so they could be baptized together. Will you pray fervently today that Mr. Y will be off work tomorrow and can be baptized with his son.

It will be cold in the ocean so pray that Mr. S, K, and hopefully Mr. Y as well as those doing the baptizing. will not catch cold. The church will meet for worship at the beach restaurant and have lunch (raw fish :-) ) together afterwards.. Pray for a wonderful time of fellowship and worship and growth for the church.

On Monday, Mrs. Sh and E plan to visit Mrs. Ki to present the gospel to her. Mrs. Ki has four children and has sent them to Sunday school several times in the past. Pray with us that the door will open for the visit and that Mrs. Sh will have the privilege of leading this lady to Christ. Pray for her children and husband to be saved also.

We count on your prayers for the lost. Please pray for each person. All are precious in His sight. We also count on your prayers for the new Christians that each will become a joyfilled multiplying disciple!!

A Third and a First

Sunday, October 19th, 2003

Dear Praying Friends:

Did the title cause you to pause and think?!!! :-) Here is what it means!!! Mrs. Sa is the third person of the third generation to lead someone to the Lord. PTL the chain is expanding!!! On Thursday afternoon, Mrs. Se and Mrs. Sa witnessed to Mrs. Su, who said she was not ready to accept Christ. After they left, she called and said she had changed her mind and decided she wanted to trust Christ!! Mrs. Sa led Mrs. Su to pray to receive Christ on the phone( a first). Pray for Mrs. Sa as she disciples Mrs. Su and ask God to help both of them to grow as disciples. Mrs. Sa herself has only been a Christian about 3 months!!

Mrs. Fu who volunteers at the Group Home led Mrs. Ka, a staff member, to the Lord this week. Mrs. Kahad indicated at worship on Sunday that she wanted to trust Christ. This was Mrs. Fu’s first experience in leading someone to Christ. Pray she will be obedient to the Holy Spirit as He leads her to witness to others also.

In Togane there are ten new Christians who have not yet been baptized. Four of them were saved this week! We hope to have a baptism for Mr. Sa on the 26th in the ocean. Pray that schedules, work, etc will all come together and that it will happen. Also, pray that Mr. Yo will have a day off work so he too can be baptized and worship together with his brothers and sisters in Christ. Pray for the Mr and Mrs. N, the three folks at the care home, Mi, Sara and Mrs.O to be baptized as well.

New Christians who are just now beginning to be discipled are leading their friends to Christ!! These new Christians need to be discipled and at the same time they need to be discipling the newer Christians! Pray that each will live Luke 9;23 and John 15:5. It is quite a challenge to keep all the links of the discipleship chain moving along. At the same time it is a such a blessing to listen to their testimonies during worship. Do they ever love Jesus!!! These Christians don’t just believe God CAN ANSWER their prayers, they believe He “will answer”! What a difference!! They share what He is doing in their lives!!

How we wish each of you could see pictures of the baptisms, of our worship times, etc. Soon that will be possible!!! We will have a website!! We have a person who is going to set up and maintain it for us! How we praise the Lord for this answer to prayer. He is ready and waiting on us. Pray we can get the information to him so he can get it set up soon.

What an awesome week!!! What a wonderful God we serve!!! What great challenges and work lay ahead!!! He knows His plans for His Church and He is leading the way. Pray all of us will be obedient and follow the Holy Spirit each day. Pray for protection for the leaders. Pray that the many who heard the gospel this week and did not say yes to Christ will open their hearts the next time they hear.

DeanO and Friends

Saturday, October 11th, 2003

Dear Prayer Warriors:

We are having a great time with DeanO T. Clown!! We have been to kindergartens, a baptism at the beach with raw fish which he did eat, as well as a worship at Tabiji. We visited a clown school and made contacts with a clown who says she wants to come and hear about Christ. Pray for Rone.

Today as we go to Ikoi, the care home at the Three Black Shrines, please pray that the Holy Spirit will be able to penetrate the darkness and that God will use the witness to reveal Christ’s love and grace to those lost folks. Pray especially for Mrs. Na and the Wa’s.

This afternoon we have worship at the N’s. Ask God to move their hearts and that they will follow the Lord in baptism.

Pray that God will bless the meetings on Sunday at Tabiji and at the Culture Center where the friends and families of the church members will come and hear DeanO present the gospel.

It has been quite entertaining to ride down the road with DeanO. Heads turn, cell phone cameras come out of car windows as people take pictures, smiles cross faces. Some people try to act as if they haven’t seen this clown riding in the car in front of their eyes!!

We’re off again this morning !!:-) Continue to pray that the spiritual eyes of the Japanese will be opened and that the seeds sown this week will bear fruit.

Praises and Prayer Requests

Friday, October 3rd, 2003

Dear Prayer Warriors:

Each time the phone rings these days our hearts jump with anticipation as we think “Maybe someone else trusted Christ!” Thursday afternoon we received such a call! E shared that Mrs. Se and Mrs. Mo had just led Mrs. Ao the Lord. Mrs. Ao had gone to church as a child and was concerned that her friend, Mrs. Mo, had joined a cult until she heard that Mrs. Mo had become a Christian. Mrs. Ao eagerly heard her friend’s testimony and accepted Christ as Savior!!!

However, not everyone who hears the gospel says “yes” to Christ. Thursday, Mr. and Mrs. Tu, Mrs. Matsu and Mrs. Mu heard the gospel. They did not receive Christ, but did take Manga Bibles and a Jesus film. Mrs. Shi and E will visit Mrs. Matsu again on Monday. The others will hear the gospel again also. Pray they all will be saved.

Mrs. Shi’s friend, Mrs. Naka, telephoned her to say she wants to hear about Jesus. Pray for her to be saved on Monday as E and Mrs. Shi present the gospel to her. Also, four Christians witnessed to Mr. and Mrs. T today (Friday). This couple is so close, especially the husband. Please pray for them to accept Christ together with their daughter.

Mr. Yo who was saved last Saturday has to commute two hours one way to work in Tokyo. Even with this tough schedule, he and his wife are reading the Bible and praying together daily. Mr. Sa who was saved Sunday is working two jobs to support his family during this time of recession in Japan. Pray for these two men and their wives to grow in their faith and become mulitplying disciples. Pray for them to be able to have time to worship together with members of God’s family.

This coming Tuesday, DeanO T Clown arrives with his wife, Cheri. They will attend the baptism of Mrs. Ao on Wednesday at the beach and have the privilege of eating raw fish!! Yum. Yum. Maybe I should stick in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich! Pray for divine encounters at the public and private kindergartens, at Ikoi Group Home, and at a clowning school where they will “perform”. Pray for family members and friends to attend the Hiyoshidai Family Outreach to be held on the 12th.. Pray for people to be saved at Tabiji Group Home worship on Sunday morning.

We praise the Lord for Christians who are boldly sharing the gospel!! Pray that they will be faithful servants and loving witnesses in their homes, their neighborhoods and at their jobs as they follow the Lord daily! Pray that His Church will grow and that He will be glorified!!!!!
