Glimpses

Dear Praying Friends:

We want to share some glimpses of the ten days since we last wrote. What has happened in that time? How is God answering prayers? How do you need to continue to pray?

  1. Mr. Migu is continuing to grow and witness in Okinawa. PTL!!! He has shared his testimony with 7 or 8 people and is meeting this week with his cousin to witness to her. The Migu’s have moved into their new apartment and have already invited a lost couple over and he shared his testimony!! Tak continues to disciple him by computer telephone. They are working presenting the gospel using the Abundant Life presentation!! Pray for someone to be saved soon!!
  2. We attended the JET Christian Fellowship Retreat and had a wonderful time with the folks. We were able to share our vision and heart with them on Sunday for an entire hour!!! Some wept as they watched the DVD about what God did through one committed Christian in Togane. They shared how they want to learn to prayer walk, to learn to witness to their neighbors, students and friends. Pray that God will continue to speak to their hearts when they return to their schools and help them be bold witnesses for Christ partnering together to start churches across Japan.
  3. Thursday after worship, Mrs. Shi and E presented the gospel to a 63 year old lady who prayed to receive Christ!! Please pray for her to grow in the Lord. She has been approached in the past by cults that use the Bible and has been taught false doctrine. So, please ask God to help her to clearly understand the free salvation she has in Christ Jesus and to grow as a disciple and share her faith with others.
  4. Three in need of salvation. God has opened the door for us to go back to Shizuoka to witness to Mrs. Hoke. She is reading the Bible and seeking answers to her spiritual need. Pray she will trust Christ and to grow as his child. Mr Haya, a grandfather, is seeking answers after the death of his 29 year old grandson. We are to meet with him and his family in Saitama next week. Pray for this man to be saved also. Pray for the Shime family who also live in Saitama that the husband will be saved and the husband and wife can be baptized together.
  5. We received word that a Korean lady who is a new Christian living in the country town of Toyosaka on the Japan Sea had lost her husband to cancer. The wife and two children are young Christians, still waiting to be baptized. There is no church near them and she does not drive. She is willing to start a church in their home. Pray that we will know how to minister to her, disciple her and help her reach her friends and neighbors for Christ. None of her family was able to attend the funeral so the neighbors helped her. Those Buddhist neighbors remarked about the hope that they saw during the Christian funeral. As we prayed together on the phone she share that she thinks they are open to the gospel. Pray for the salvation of many there and many churches to be born.

Thank God with us for what He has done and what He will do!!! We love each of you and thank God for you and your prayer support!!!!

Moving

Tuesday, February 8th, 2005

Dear Praying Friends:

Mr. Migu is moving!! In many ways! He is moving forward in his relationship with the Lord. He has begun sharing his testimony with others as he thinks of starting a house church. He has moved from one apartment to another. To Mr. Migu, this move was confirmation that starting house churches was God’s will. His family of three had been living a small one room apartment and he knew there was no room for a church to meet so he prayed for God to give him a bigger place. God answered his prayer though his landlord who came up to him and told him there was a two room apartment open and that he could move to it without paying any of the fees that are usually required. Pray that he will continue to be faithful in witnessing to the lost. Pray he will grow in his relationship with Christ and that God will use this young man and his wife in a way that will result in many generations coming to know Christ.

Pray for the two little boys who have been saved and now are not allowed to come to church because they wanted to be baptized. Ask God to guide the leaders who work with children and them spiritual discernment. Pray for the Lord to open avenues of witness to the families and give the parents open hearts to the Gospel.

Thank you for praying for Mrs. Hoike in Shizuoka. She was very open. Since meeting she has watched the Jesus film and now has a desire to read the Bible more. Pray that as she reads His word that she will have a heart that is obedient to the Holy Spirit’s voice and that she will meet Christ and trust Him as her Savior. Pray for her to experience the power of God through His word. Pray for us as we witness to her via telephone and mail.

February 11-13 we will be attending a JET (Japan English Teacher) retreat at Karuizawa and share our vision for reaching Japan and how we do our work. There will be about 30 young teachers there from small cities across Japan. Pray with us that God will speak to all of us and pray we will be given insight about how to work together to get the gospel to more Japanese people.

Mr. Ko turned 88 on Saturday. He is out of the hospital, but has not yet trusted Christ. Pray for opportunities for E to share the gospel with him and the rest of the family. Pray for him and his entire family to repent and trust Christ.
