Praying Fervently

Thursday, July 28th, 2005

Dear Praying Friends:

It seems we just said Happy Fourth of July and now the end of the month is in site. Two weeks of meetings in Thailand for our region cut into the middle of our month and it seems that we have been trying to recover from being gone ever since!!! We hope that you have been praying fervently for the peoples living in the cities, towns and villages from Hokkaido to Okinawa. People must be praying because Satan seems to be on the offensive. Pray even more.

Pray for Asa and Izu who run a small coffee/gift shop. Izu is practicing meditation and Asa is searching for God, asking questions of Izu, who doesn’t have any answers. Asa is reading the Bible. Both of these girls have been influenced by Buddhism and other religions but seem to be earnest in wanting to know the Truth. Last week Izu heard the gospel. Pray for an opportunity to meet and share with Asa and pray for them both to be saved.

Praise the Lord for those who have been faithful in witnessing this month. Our hearts are encouraged when we hear people share about their experiences of telling people about Christ. At the last leader’s meeting, Mrs. Mo told about sharing about Christ and his gift of salvation with the parents of children who have come to the children’s worship. Other told of being able to share with their family members. Others shared about missed opportunities and asked for prayer for boldness. Pray for them. The leaders are praying for 10 people to be saved this week. Please pray with them.

The first Jet orientation is over and over 40 Christian Jets signed up with the Jet Christian Fellowship. Pray these Christians will be faithful in their quiet time with the Lord and experience His presence every day, even when it is tough and they are alone. God has led several tentmakers here through this network and we ask you to pray for them to be faithful and bold witnesses for the Lord as they spread out to the far corners of the country. One girl will be living in a town of 800 with only one elementary school and one junior high school. There is no church or Christian witness in his town. Also, A-san whom you have been praying for arrived and has gone on to Kikai Island to begin work. Pray for her husband to be able to join her soon and that these two will be bold compassion filled witnesses for the Lord there on that tiny island.

On a personal note, we became the grandparents of two little boys in July. Our younger son and his wife adopted two boys from Ukraine. We are indeed an international family. Please pray for these two little boys who have not had a chance to hear about Jesus and his love for them. Pray that as they hear about Jesus from their parents they will understand His love for them and accept Christ’s gift of salvation. Also, pray for wisdom the parents, for the adjustment of their daughter who is adopted from Kazakhstan, for the boys to learn English and for all of them to bond quickly as a family.

Happy 4th of July!

Praying Friends:

Happy 4th of July. It is sometimes hard for us overseas to realize that this is the 4th of July weekend and a big holiday in the States. Everything here just runs along as usual. It is the rainy season, so lots of rain and humidity.

Thank you for praying for the Miku family. Mr. Miku has started Bible study with his father on Friday nights, studying the miracles of Jesus. We are truly seeing a miracle as one by one members of his family express interest in knowing Christ or growing in the Lord. Mr. Miku has worship and Bible study with several of his family members and relatives at various times during the week. Pray for him to be able to lead his cousins and siblings to the Lord. Pray for him and his wife to grow together and for God to bless their home as they put Christ first.

As we attended a joint worship service this week, we heard many testimonies of God’s grace and power in the lives of the believers. We know that God is answering you prayers and they have a great impact of the lives of the Christians as well as the lost. One answer to your prayers The two little boys who have not been able to come to worship have again been permitted to come.

Many of your have been praying for Mrs. Wa these past several weeks since she was hospitalized with Moya Moya disease. She is still in the hospital and was steadily getting better. However, her husband died accidentally and the stress from that set her back. The ladies from the church have been visiting her and praying with her. On their last visit, she asked them to write down in large letters on a piece of paper “I believe in Jesus Christ”. As her mind weakens she did not want to ever lose sight of Jesus. We were thrilled at her desire to be faithful to her Lord and to bear testimony of her faith. Well, this week, her mother who is Buddhist, decided that Mrs. Wa couldn’t have her Bible, her songbook, or her praise tapes. She brought everything back to the church and asked the ladies not to visit her daughter again. We do not know Mrs. Wa’s desires, and the ladies are praying about whether to go and pray with her or not. They don’t want to make things worse for her, but yet want to go and encourage her in the Lord. Since they are not the ones who will suffer if they go to visit her, they really need wisdom about what to do. Please pray with them about this.

Mr. Yo has been out of work for several weeks and his family in going in to debt to live. Please pray that he will find a job and also that he will grow more in his walk with the Lord and lead his family. They have devotions daily and the children memorize scriptures but the father doesn’t. Pray for him to have a desire to hide God’s word in his heart.

Please pray for Mr. Ya, Mr. Ma and Mr. Mu who were saved last October but have stumbled over a simple faith and a simple church. Their desire to debate the scriptures rather than humbly follow Jesus teachings has become a stumbling block for them. Ask God to revive their desire to know Christ and to give them a willing spirit to follow the teaching of the scriptures. Pray for them to acquire a strong faith rather than just head knowledge.
