Spiritual Battles

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

Every day in the news we are bombarded with news of war. In countries all around the world, people are fighting either to keep people in bondage or to set them free. We feel deeply and pray for those who are hurt, for those who lose loved ones. This month we have especially sensed the spiritual battle going on here in Japan. We are reminded daily of the battle going on for the souls of men. Satan does not let up one minute. We need to be vigilant, praying without ceasing!!

Early in February we along with Mrs. Se and E went to visit Mrs. Sugi who had expressed an interest in the gospel. Mrs. Se had been witnessing to her since meeting her at a gas station last fall. During our visit she shared about the battle going on inside her. She said that one part of her wanted to believe yet another part said no. After explaining that the Holy Spirit was trying to draw her to Christ but Satan was trying to prevent her, she prayed to receive Christ. The ladies returned to follow up and talk about baptism, but it seems that she is still having a battle in her heart. Please pray for Mrs. Sugi to trust Christ completely. Pray she will have confidence that Christ is her Lord and become an obedient disciple, starting a church in Yachimata.

Continue to pray for the Yo family as they are tested in their faith. This young couple and their children love the Lord and want to be obedient. Many young Christians are suffering the consequences of their lifestyle before becoming Christians that has left them with many problems. Pray that those listed below will see the Lord’s hand at work in their lives in the midst of these situations. Mr. and Mrs. Ogu, Mrs. Ma, Mrs. Maru, Mr. and Mrs. Ni, Mr. and Mrs. Sa, Mrs. Suzu, Mrs. Kohi, Mrs. Kawa and her children, and Mrs. Ki.

Mrs. Wa for whom you have been praying and who has not had a Bible since last summer wrote and said that she has reconciled with her mother. We are afraid that means that she is returning to her mother’s religion. Please pray for Mrs. Wa’s faith to remain firm in Christ, and pray that she can have a copy of God’s word. Pray she will stay true to Christ no matter what the circumstances.

Please pray with us that we will be able to establish a beachhead in 10 prefectures where we currently do not have a CPM Ministry taking place. Of the 47 prefectures in Japan, especially pray this week for the area around Okayama in central Japan and Shimane on the Japan Sea. Ask God to raise up workers to bring in His harvest!
