After school school
Many Japanese children go to after school cram schools. At one we know, Kei teaches English to a large number of children during the week. Kei is a Christian and wants her students to come to know Christ. As far as we know Kei is the only Christian in her neighborhood. She has been witnessing to a couple of her friends and invites them to come to study the Bible.
While the volunteer team was here, the children at the “Study Room” and their some of their parents had the privilege of hearing the gospel for the first time. Kei had the clowns do a program and a they had a Japanese barbeque. Not like any barbeque that you have in your back yard (if you are in America). Please pray for all those who received Digest Bibles, Hope DVD’s, Power for Living books, or Manga Bibles.
I am blessed by Kei’s story to bring her students to Christ. I also have a vision to reach the Japanese for Jesus. God gave me grace after grace when I lived in Japan during me U.S. military days. He opened many opportunities for me to be involved in Japan. I lived next to Mt. Fuji in the city of Gotemba. That is where I met my wife, Reiko. We met at her church in Gotemba. One day after a Sunday service, the Pastor and his wife talked with me and Reiko about teaching English to the local children through the church, a ministry opportunity. That vision was not fulfilled at that time. Shortly thereafter, my military job took us to California where we live now. The idea of teaching English in Japan has remained with me. I am encouraged by Kei’s sacrifice to labor in the Gospel. I pray those Gospel tools are hitting the targets at full force.
P.S. I am familiar with the Japanese Bar-BQ…we had one for our engagement celebration.
