Connecting the Dots God’s Way
This morning as we sat under the trees in the zoo section (quite an interesting place for worship) of a park, having worship with a new Christian and a missionary couple, I could not help but praise the Lord for the wonderful way He brought them together. It is an exciting story of how God connected the dots, His way!!!
About a month ago, we received a call from Miku whom Tak disciples in Okinawa. Miku has his testimony posted on the web. Well… this young lady, who has been searching, going to different churches, studying the Bible with pastors, studying about the Bible and theology, etc. for 13 years, read Miku’s testimony (from among the thousands that are posted) and was moved to write to him. They wrote messages back and forth for a month as she sought answers to her many questions.
Finally, she reached a point of need to talk face to face with someone. So Miku called Tak and asked if we could talk to her. Tak immediately called Sai. We made an appointment to meet her. She came to our home and after about three hours of answering her questions and sharing the gospel with her, she prayed to receive Christ. She was ready to be baptized immediately!
She went home and told her husband she wanted to be baptized. Sai tried to explain to him what baptism was but he couldn’t understand, so she called us at 11 p.m. that evening wanting to meet again so her husband could learn what baptism is. We met the very next afternoon.
The following week Sai opened her home and seven of us, including one of her best friends who is not a Christian yet, gathered there for her baptism. Sai is growing and witnessing to her family and friends. Pray for her husband to come to Christ. Pray that she will become a multiplying disciple!!!
Just as God knew that we are leaving for stateside assignment in November, He also knew that Sai lives within a short bicycle ride of Mark and Mie Busby. The Busby’s had been praying for God to send then someone with whom they could worship. Mie and Lana met Sai a couple of times to mentor her and Mie and Sai now exchange email often, some times several times a day. God is using Mie to help nurture this new Christian.
We trust God to grow this church. After all, He brought it all together!! He used the internet, a man in Okinawa, and the Oues who are not even assigned to work in Tokyo, to bring these people together. Pray for a vibrant church that will “BE” his light in the Kichijoji area of Tokyo.
*Pray for the eight new Christians that have been saved these last two months that they will make Christ a priority in their lives. Pray for Ka and Mo that they will prioritize their schedules, making room each day for time with the Lord, and putting his first in every area of their lives. Pray for Hi to and Izu to follow through on their commitments and be baptized.
*Many of you have prayed for Mrs. D and her family. Last year, Mr. D, who thought Jesus was a space man and worshipped the creation, not the Creator, passed away. God is answering prayer. E visited Mrs. D again recently and Mrs. D said she is ready to read the Bible and asked E to buy her one with big print. E was able to share the gospel with her son when we she went to deliver the Bible. Praise the Lord that Mrs. D and her son have decided to read the Bible. Pray that Mrs. D and her adult children, and her 85+ year old mother in law will make a decision to trust Christ as Savior and follow Him as Lord. Claim Isaiah 55:11!!!
Claiming His Promises for His Glory.
