This is Summer in Japan

Trips to visit family or kids sent off to visit grandparents. Companies closed down for the obon festival. Visits to the family graves. Families or friends going on vacations out of the country. Traffic snarled on the expressways for tens of miles. Beaches crowded so that it is standing room only. Hot and humid evenings by the rivers or in the parks filled with fireworks and beer parties. This is summer in Japan.
Just before Obon festival, Mrs. Shi was talking to her husband about Christ and asked Him if he believed in Jesus. His answer was yes. Yet a few days later when it came time to place an offering at the grave during obon, he prayed to his ancestors. Please pray that Mr. Shi will believe that Jesus is the only way; that he will accept Christ as Savior. Pray that Mrs. Shi will listen closely to the Holy Spirit and follow his leading in her witness to her husband. Pray that the many seeds that have already been planted in Mr. Shi’s heart will soon bear the fruit of faith. Pray that this couple will grow together and be used to start a church in their neighborhood.
Two of the Christian families sent their children to visit the grandparents during summer vacation. The children have been witnesses to their grandparents so that now even the grandparents are reminding the children to thank God before they eat. They also read the Bible together. Pray that these grandparents who have only heard the gospel from their grandchildren, will pray and ask Christ to be their Savior and Lord. They have been praying to their ancestors for many years, so pray especially that the light of the gospel will shine into their hearts and lead them to the truth.
Pray for Mrs. K to be bold and share the gospel with Mrs. Waka whom she has prayed for and with whom she shared her testimony. Pray for Mrs. Waka to trust Christ. Also, ask God to give Mrs. Kr wisdom as she reaches out to Mrs. Mo, a Christian who has been away from the Lord for several years. Pray for these three to become one in Christ and that they will grow and become reproducing disciples that in turn become a reproducing church, spreading the light of the gospel all across Toyosaka and Niigata, Japan.
Praise the Lord for the answers to prayer in Sapporo and in Okinawa. We see God working in the lives of the Christians in both cities. Pray especially for Mr. and Mrs. Sat in Sapporo to trust Christ as Savior. Also, pray for God to provide the financial needs for Mrs. Rei, a lady who has five children in Okinawa. Pray for HT and Mr. and Mrs Miku as they minister to them. The house church Christians in Sapporo are now praying for churches to begin in four different areas, starting from the believers that God is raising up in each of those places. Presently they are all worshipping together but they are praying that others will be saved and that the groups will grow and that multiple churches will result.
